Mountain Regional Water Special Service District
SCADA System Upgrade
|
The MRW SCADA system was growing rapidly and the existing SCADA infrastructure was unable to keep up. The system had grown to multiple treatment facilities and over 50 remote sites. Operators needed system-wide SCADA connectivity at multiple locations. SKM provided a new radio network, replaced and reprogrammed obsolete PLCs, and provided an HMI with standardized monitoring and control. The new SCADA system included redundant architecture, unlimited clients, automated reporting, and intrusion detection at remote sites. Pumping stations were equipped with energy saving algorithms, saving the district thousands of dollars in power costs. Secure connections with an adjacent district allowed the two to share critical SCADA information in real-time. SKM still provides support and additions to the system, but MRW is largely able to maintain the system themselves, including building their own SCADA screens, and reports.
